Delia ditches the Classic Christmas Cake Posted: 24 Oct 2010 11:55 PM PDT The cook, who made a career teaching people to "cheat" at cooking, said her new recipe will enable anyone to bake a Christmas cake, regardless of their culinary ability. Describing her old recipe – followed meticulously by thousands of families since she published it in 1978 – as "possibly the most popular recipe I've ever done", the cook told the Daily Mail: "Precisely the same recipe has been unbelievably simplified. "There is no need to shop for, or weigh out, a long list of ingredients. All you do is empty the packs into a bowl, mix it together and bake." The packs, which include all the ingredients except eggs, butter, and orange and a lemon, which must be bought fresh, will be sold in Waitrose from November 11. Miss Smith, 69, has sold more than 21 million cookery books and is the UK's biggest-selling cookery author.
