Yasye pf Diss weekend highlights sustainability Posted: 11 Jun 2010 01:09 AM PDT Last updated: 11/06/2010 09:06:00 Taste of Diss 2010 will be promoting the best the area has to offer by showcasing quality locally produced food and crafts. The festival will kick-off on Saturday when the town's Corn Hall will play host to about 20 exhibitors selling food and offering samples including handmade chocolates, pickles, chutneys and wines. Artwork and crafts will also be on display alongside card making demonstrations and cookery classes for children and talks on topics such as allotments and beekeeping. A book written by Dr Gary Alexander, called Sustainable Diss 2030, will also be available to festival visitors, which aims to inspire residents into discussing how Diss should grow in the next 20 years. The free fair, which will take place between midday and 5pm, will be followed by a supper and a debate on aspects of sustainable living. Tickets are £5. In the evening there will be music featuring acoustic band Them Harvey Boys. Tickets cost £6. The weekend finishes on Sunday with a public picnic on Fair Green between midday and 4pm where there will be children's entertainment and refreshments on offer. |
