Similar to outposts in London, New York, Tokyo and other major cities, Chefs Warehouse is an innovative combination of retail experience and culinary education; a place where local chefs come to browse new products for their restaurant kitchens and serious foodies learn new techniques for their home kitchens.

The cookery school offers classes hosted by an extensive and impressive list of local and top international chefs. Offering over 200 demonstrations and classes a year, the school aims to set new standards as the centre for culinary prowess in Cape Town. Liam Tomlin's Basic Techniques and Methods of Cookery course is the headline act, a 20-part course that aims to turn any aspiring cook into a gastronomic dynamo. There are also classes on wine, beer, artisan baking and more.

The retail arm of Chefs Warehouse is open to both the trade and general public. A showcase for a wide range of products sourced locally and abroad, it stocks top quality kitchen equipment, glassware, unique food products and ingredients as well as chefswear. Chefs Warehouse is also busy assembling the largest cookbook collection in South Africa, and through their Books for Cooks Club aims to fill out home collections.

Chefs Warehouse is a natural extension of Liam Tomlin's passion and enthusiasm for food. Born in Ireland, Liam worked in some of the top kitchens in Ireland and Europe before moving to Australia. It was there that he came unto his own, most notably with the highly-respected BANC restaurant in Sydney. Liam moved to Cape Town in 2004 and set up his consultancy, Beyond Food, before opening the Chefs Warehouse. Author of two successful books, BANC and Season to Taste, Liam is working on a third to compliment the Chefs Warehouse & Cookery School.

Chefs Warehouse & Cookery School is located in the heart of town on New Church Street. The class schedule can be viewed at www.chefswarehouse.co.za.
