COOKERY students were served up a treat when celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay dropped in for a surprise visit.

The star of TV shows The F Word and Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares was on hand for the graduation ceremony of 26 students from the Tante Marie School of Cookery in Carlton Road, Woking.

The students, who had no idea the Michelin-starred chef was on his way, were celebrating after completing a range of different courses, and they received an inspirational speech from the man himself after collecting their certificates.

Andrew Maxwell, managing director and principal of the school, said the visit meant a lot to them.

He said: "The students didn't know he was coming and he's a very busy man, but luckily he was able to make some time and pop down.

"He's an inspirational figure for trainee chefs, and it made it extra special because they weren't expecting it.

"He gave them some advice and a quick speech, and it will really mean an awful lot to them."

Ramsay, who co-owns the school, has been known to drop by unannounced in the past, and made a similar visit earlier this year.

He said: "'I am extremely proud of everyone who has graduated today, they've worked incredibly hard and have learned some invaluable skills which will give them a great start in their careers, whether it's culinary or otherwise."
