STARS of the silver screen, a renowned folk singer and an afternoon with a famous cookery writer are some of the treats at the Anthony Minghella film festival.
The event opens this evening (Friday) with a screening of Roman epic The Eagle at Cineworld, Newport, as well as a launch party.
Highlights of the three-day festival, set up to commemorate the Island's Oscar-winning film director, include an appearance by actor Ralph Fiennes.
Mr Fiennes ,who starred in Mr Minghella's nine Oscar winning classic The English Patient, will be in conversation at The Apollo Theatre, Newport, tomorrow.
Other events include an appearance by singer June Tabor, who will be performing at Freshwater Memorial Hall on Sunday, and a big Italian brunch, also on Sunday, which will be hosted by Mr Minghella's parents, Gloria and Edward, and will feature famous Italian cookery writer, Anna Del Conte.
The weekend will also feature screenings of films produced by Mr Minghella, film-maker workshops and a family fun day.
